Job Details
Construction Managers plan, direct, and coordinate a wide variety of construction projects. They are typically involved with the scheduling, coordination, and guidance of all design and construction processes during the final design and entire construction phases of a project, including the selection, hiring, and oversight of specialty trade contractors.
Construction Managers coordinate and supervise the construction process from the final design stage through final construction, making sure that the project gets done on time and within budget. Responsible for the financial performance of the construction portion of projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee total construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with specified design, budget, schedule, and quality. Includes interfacing with client representatives, subcontractors, security, etc.
- Responsible for the financial performance of construction projects.
- Provides direction to construction engineering staff on job duties, responsibilities, and priorities.
- Performs performance reviews and provides ongoing feedback about performance of construction engineering staff.
- Oversight of all project personnel transactions (hiring, transfers, wages, etc.), purchase requisitions, change requests, etc.
- Ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures standards, etc. are adhered to. Interpret policies as required.
- Assist with implementation of safety programs.
- Provide direction to planning, scheduling and engineering functions as required.
- Evaluate and help determine appropriate construction delivery systems and the most cost-effective plan and schedule for completing the project.
- Oversee the selection of general contractors and trade contractors to complete specific pieces of the project—which could include everything from structural metalworking and plumbing to painting and carpet installation. Responsible for the purchasing of “non-technical” components of project that do not directly impact design intent.
- Direct and monitor the progress of construction activities through construction supervisors or other construction managers.
- Oversight of the delivery and use of materials, tools, and equipment; and the quality of construction, worker productivity, and safety.
- Oversight for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses and, depending upon the contractual arrangements, direct or monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
- Review, analyze, track and control construction costs to avoid cost overruns.
- Monitor subcontractor and supplier relations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Other Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of a four year engineering or construction degree or equivalent experience.
- Travel will be required up to approximately 50%.
- Must have clean driving record and valid drivers license.
- Drug & Alcohol testing required.
